Enabling Policy

Enabling policy and strengthening institutional environment

Formal and informal institutions are central to the management of land and natural resources. CRDD will identify and work with institutions at the community, county, and national government levels. At the community level, the role of indigenous knowledge in resource governance will be identified, documented and its functions integrated with that of formal institutions. For the governments both at local (county) and national levels, relevant departments will be engaged in sharing experiences and advisory through policy briefs. Partnership with the Civil Society Organization for collaborative support to policy development and implementation will also be strengthened.

Our areas of action:

  • Policy analysis and review to inform drylands development
  • Sharing of salutary lessons in policy and practice from across the globe
  • Promoting stakeholder approaches to policy development and implementation
  • Strengthened stakeholder platforms for policy engagements
